So, you think you can’t draw? That’s nonsense! Join this workshop to develop the fundamental skill all artists need to succeed.
Sketching is nothing more than observing and putting pencil to paper. You sketched all the time when you were a child. When did you start to be afraid of it?
Betty Jean Kennedy, who started and leads the summer 30-30 sketching program, and Emily Grotta are leading this workshop to help you get past that block and started on the journey of sketching daily for your own enjoyment.
This three-hour workshop will include a review of materials you need to sketch and the basic techniques of sketching. You’ll practice your strokes and simple shapes, learn about shading, and do two 30-minute drawings of a simple object chosen from those provided for you. All necessary materials will be provided, but if you have your favorite pencils and sketchbook, please bring them along.
This workshop will be geared toward beginners but artists who are rusty and want to warm up before the 30-30 sketching program begins this June are welcome.
