“Most Improved Artist” a new category for monthly recognition.
The PebbleCreek Art Club first recognized an “Artist of the Month” when the Creative Arts Center opened in 1996. Over the subsequent 27 years, the award has recognized many of PebbleCreek’s wonderful artists, some of whom were professional painters before moving to PC, others who only began their art journey when they joined the club.
Beginning in the Fall of 2023, a new category for the award will be considered: Most Improved Artist. Hilary Fiscus, chair of the Artist of the Month Committee, said the new criteria is in keeping with the mission of the Art Club: To inspire personal growth in creative expression and to promote opportunities for artists to exhibit their work. The award for “Most Improved Artist,” will alternate with the “Artist of the Month” award and will recognize artists who are relatively new to a medium and are showing marked improvement in that medium.
PC Art Club President Sylvia Armstrong said the Club wants to recognize the many residents who are new to art but have learned through classes, open studios and workshops. The award will demonstrate how rewarding art can be for retirees.
